Are you considering renovating your basement? If so, you’re not alone! A newly renovated basement can add incredible value to your home. But before you start knocking down walls, there are a few things you should keep in mind. In this blog post, we’ll share some tips to help make your basement renovation go smoothly. So read on for all the info you need to get started!

One major concern for any homeowner is a plumbing emergency. When you’re excavating and doing construction, it’s easy to cause damage to your pipes and not even know about it until later on. So what do you do if you encounter a plumbing problem, first you try to contact an emergency plumber ? In this blog post, we’ll share how to handle three of the most common types of plumbing emergencies that occur during renovations.

Let’s take a look at each one in detail:

Running Toilet – A running toilet can waste dozens of gallons per day, which might not seem like a lot but soon adds up! If your toilet runs constantly or makes gurgling noises when you aren’t using it, there may be a leak in the tank . This is an easy fix , so don’t worry. First, you’ll want to check the flapper or tank ball that controls water flow into the bowl . Look for cracks or corrosion anywhere on the surface. If there are no visible problems, your problem may be caused by a faulty rubber flush valve washer . To replace it, simply unhook the chain from the handle of your old flush valve and attach it to your new one.

Auto-Fill Valve – A water heater with an auto-fill valve is more convenient than one without because it automatically adds cold water when your hot water runs low. But if this feature isn’t turned off , it can easily waste gallons of water without you knowing about it. Here’s how it works: every time you turn on a hot water tap, your water heater’s thermostat detects that you’re using hot water and activates a solenoid valve pvc picket fencing that opens a supply line for cold water to refill the tank. As long as someone keeps a faucet or shower running, this process will continue indefinitely.

In most cases, it is possible to fix this problem by installing an anti-cycle timer on your auto-fill valve. If you decide against this option, make sure there are no leaks from the parts of your tank exposed during excavation—a water hammer can cause severe damage to them! Leaking Pipes – Sometimes, even perfectly installed pipes have issues after plumbers leave the scene. Leaks in new plumbing lines are often caused by poor machine work or inexperienced installation. If you find a problem with a copper or PVC pipe that has been recently installed, it should be simple to fix. You can contact a plumber for this work, but you might as well save some money by performing the repairs yourself!

When a PVC pipe is leaking, first check if the problem is at the connection . Tighten all clamps and flange nuts around your installation with channel locks or adjustable wrenches. If there are no problems at the joints, use a hacksaw to cut out an 1″-long section of pipe near where water is collecting. Scrub away any corrosion from inside both ends of the cut piece, then reattach it using both solvent adhesive and primer on threaded connections. Clean off excess adhesive that squeezes through your new joint.

For copper pipes , tighten all connections with sockets and adjustable wrenches. If this doesn’t work, try using a pipe expander to enlarge the diameter of your copper pipes slightly. This will ensure that all clamped joints are tightly sealed, preventing leaks.

That’s all there is to it! Are you planning on renovating your basement soon? Keep these tips in mind for a smooth renovation process . Thanks for reading!
